How the project runs

Site visit and quote
We visit the property free of charge, assess the condition of the old paint and measure the area to be painted. You receive a written quote with the work, materials and schedule clearly itemised.

Protection and washing
We protect windows, doors, terraces and plantings, then wash the facade thoroughly — dirt, mould and loose paint must come off, or the new paint will not adhere properly.

Preparation
We scrape off loose paint, sand where needed and replace damaged boards. Bare wood is always primed before the finish coats.
- 04
Painting
We paint with Tikkurila products, typically two finish coats. The paint type is chosen to match the project: the previous paint, surface condition and material all matter.

Finishing and inspection
We walk through the result with you, finish the details and clean up the site. The work comes with a 2-year warranty.

Frequently asked questions
How long does painting a detached house take?
A typical detached house facade takes 1–2 weeks. The schedule depends on the size of the house, the condition of the old surface and the amount of preparation — washing, scraping and priming often take as long as the finish coat itself. We give an exact estimate during the free site visit.
What time of year can a house be painted?
The exterior painting season usually runs from May to September. We paint when the air temperature is above +5 °C and the wood is dry — paint will not adhere properly to a damp or frozen surface. Overcast weather is ideal: in direct sun the paint dries too fast to spread evenly. It is worth booking early, as the summer season fills up quickly.
Which paints do you use?
We use Tikkurila paints. They are designed for Finnish conditions and hold up well, and the range covers both wood and brick surfaces. We always choose the paint type to match the project: the previously used paint, the condition of the surface and the material determine which product gives the best result.
Does the work come with a warranty?
Yes. We give a 2-year warranty on the exterior painting work we do. The warranty covers our workmanship — if a defect caused by the work appears during the warranty period, we will fix it free of charge.
Is the work eligible for the household tax deduction?
Yes, exterior painting of a home or holiday home qualifies for the Finnish household tax deduction. The deduction applies to the labour portion of the invoice, not materials. We itemise labour and materials separately on the invoice so claiming it is straightforward. Check the current deduction rates and limits on the Finnish Tax Administration website.
What happens during the site visit, and does it cost anything?
The site visit is free and comes with no obligation. We come and look at the property, assess the condition of the old paint and the amount of preparation needed, and measure the area to be painted. After the visit you receive a written quote with the work, materials and schedule clearly itemised.
